Arrow Season 7: 4 Ups & 2 Downs From ‘The Longbow Hunters’
1. Felicity's Inability To Prioritise
A motivated Felicity is a good Felicity. However, a silly Felicity is not.
The character is currently on an intriguing journey as she struggles with her desire to stop Ricardo Diaz and doing the right thing. It's hard to blame her for wanting to make the city safe for herself and William. She's absolutely right for wanting what she wants, and this rogue destroyer route that she seems to be heading down has some real promise.
Unfortunately, that didn't change the fact that she showcased a complete lack of care in this week's episode. As her way of doing things clashed with John's, it eventually led to a crisis in which she had to make a choice: save Diggle and the battery from the Longbow Hunters and Diaz, or risk the device (and John) falling into Diaz's hands and being weaponized.
It was the perfect chance for the character to show that she had learned something, but instead, she simply said the rather cringe-worthy line: "I can't. He'll get away". Yes Felicity, we know he'll get away, but your friend and teammate (not to mention the city) would be safe if you made the right choice. Thankfully, Curtis made it for her.
Everything about the arc had been done right up until this point, but that one weak line stuck out like a sore thumb and it turned Felicity into nothing more than a liability who couldn't prioritise the mission (and her best friend's life) over her own desires.
