Arrow Season 7: 5 Easter Eggs & References You Might Have Missed In 'My Name Is Emiko Queen'

1. A Love Letter To Season 1

Throughout the whole midseason premiere, there were quite a few subtle little nods to Arrow's early years, as Emiko somehow managed to unwittingly relive some of her brother's earliest vigilante moments.

Working from a small notebook, she crossed out the names of her targets whenever she dealt with them, much like Oliver did when he first donned the green hood in the show's first season. Similarly, she also worked from her own isolated warehouse and refused to join forces with anyone as she carried out her vengeance on those who took her mother from her.

However, just like her brother turned to Diggle, Emiko eventually had to turn to the one person she knew she could trust, Rene Ramirez - and from that moment onwards, she had a reliable partner to help her in the field.

But it wasn't just in the storyline, as there were little nods to the show's inaugural season in both the visuals and sound. From the moment that Emiko spiralled out the window to avoid the incoming gunfire to the score that played in the background as Oliver went through his father's belongings, the episode was full of tributes to the season that started it all. Even the title, 'My Name Is Emiko Queen', was a spin-off of Oliver's famous opening line, "My Name Is Oliver Queen" - a rather fitting way of introducing us to a brand new Green Arrow.
