Arrow Season 8 Premiere: 12 Easter Eggs & References You Missed In 'Starling City'

1. A Flash of The Lightning

The episode's conclusion saw Earth-2 wiped out by a wave of anti-matter that encircled Oliver, Laurel and Diggle. Now while that is undoubtedly inspired by Crisis On Infinite Earths, it was also a direct reference to the episode of The Flash that aired just prior to Arrow's premiere.

'A Flash Of The Lightning' saw Barry Allen's mind travel to billions of possible futures where he witnessed a huge wave of anti-matter wipe out Central City, Killer Frost, Vibe, Elongated Man and Iris West-Allen. A harrowing moment, no doubt, it allowed viewers to understand what the Crisis would look like upon its arrival, giving us our first real chance to see what it could do. This, in turn, set the stage for its actual arrival in Arrow the following hour.

The Flash added the context to the Crisis while Arrow pulled the trigger. Now that's some crossover teamwork right there!
