Arrow Season 8 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Reset'

Arrow's final season gets even more trippy as another beloved character returns.

Oliver Queen may be attempting to save the multiverse from complete and utter devastation, but it would sure be a heck of a lot easier for him if he could trust the being he's supposed to be working with. But unfortunately, things on Arrow are never that simple, are they?

The Green Arrow has made it his mission to figure out if The Monitor (a.k.a. Mar Novu) is to be trusted and has now prepared a contingency plan by securing the means to produce some god-killing anti-matter just in case he should need it. The one drawback of that contingency plan, however, is the fact that being an all-powerful god, The Monitor was always aware of that plan. But thanks to Laurel Lance, Team Arrow is now aware that Novu has been working with Lyla Michaels - a revelation that subsequently led to unconsciousness for Team Arrow's core three.

But just when it looked like Arrow's final season couldn't get anymore jaw-dropping, its latest installment, 'Reset' has flipped the switch altogether - introducing a new status quo that was made all the more effective by the reintroduction of another familiar face from the past. The result was a thoroughly compelling character-driven narrative that brought closure to some of the show's most important storylines and steered this season in another unexpected direction.
