Arrow Season 8 Review: 6 Ups & 1 Down From 'Prochnost'
Down...
1. The Little Things Happen Too Fast
'Prochnost' may have been an incredibly well-executed character study that handled some of the show's most engaging storylines with care, but it sometimes missed the mark when it came to the little things that ultimately propelled those narratives.
Laurel's initial meeting with Lyla sparked understandable confusion for the Black Canary, because she was expecting The Monitor, but the question we should be asking was why was she expecting The Monitor? Surely an all-powerful cosmic being would have explained the details of her mission before then. More to the point, the conversation felt a little rushed in an attempt - as if the writers' sole purpose was to get to the point without worrying about how naturally they got there.
The same could be said about Diggle's reunion with Roy Harper. Oliver Queen's right-hand man attempted to convince Roy that he was needed because "this Crisis is a threat bigger than anything [we've] ever faced." Shouldn't Roy's initial reaction have been to ask what Crisis he was speaking of? After all, he wasn't around throughout any of this and now he's suddenly supposed to know what the Crisis is?
Everything that happened in these little connective scenes were fine, but how they happened left something to be desired.
Now, for the positives...
