Arrow Season 8 Review: 6 Ups & 1 Down From 'Prochnost'
5. Roy Harper's Return
Speaking of Roy Harper, it was great to see Colton Haynes back in action as the red-arrow-wielding partner of the Green Arrow.
Roy has, and always will be, an integral part of the show, but his on-and-off appearances over the past four seasons have made it hard for him to ever truly receive the cohesive development he needs. This couldn't have been clearer than it was last season when, in spite of Haynes being a series regular, Roy only turned up in the final four episodes (as the show had been utilising him in the flash-forwards instead). Thus, when his bloodlust became apparent, the season never had the time to give his arc the conclusion that it needed.
Having Diggle seek him out not only felt like a natural way of bringing him back to the show, it was also a clever method of using the show's knowledge of last season's now-obsolete flash-forwards in order to further the present-day team's attempts to prevent that future from ever happening. And this proved to be a solid foundation for the beloved character's return to the show.
There is no Green Arrow without Arsenal, so it's only fitting that he return for the final season.
