Arrow Season 8 Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Welcome To Hong Kong'

Ups...

8. The New Intro

Arrow Season 8 The Hood
The CW

Let's start at the beginning, shall we?

The second episode opened with a brand new intro that was very much in the style of the old ones. But the iconic "My name is Oliver Queen" opening line didn't play over that instantly recognisable image of the bearded Oliver on Earth-1's Lian Yu. Instead, it played over the vaguely similar image of Oliver on Earth-2's Lian Yu from last week's premiere.

That image, the montage that ensued - which quickly encapsulated all the Green Arrow had done in seven years - and the urgency in his Stephen Amell's voice really set this one apart from all of the previous ones, letting us all know that the stakes have never been greater. Mission accomplished.
