Then: Tahmoh Penikett had only been getting small parts in the few years before landing the role of Lt. Karl "Helo" Agathon. This was also going to be another smaller role, as Agathon wasn't supposed to be seen past the opening miniseries. However, the character proved to be a fan favorite and was given an expanded storyline in the show.

Now: Penikett continued to take roles in science fiction after BSG. He appeared in Dollhouse, Continuum, and Deep Six. As far as movies go, he had small role in 2013's Man of Steel. Plus, he's worked with fellow BSG actors Aaron Douglas, in Killbird, and Edward James Olmos in The Devil Has a Name. His latest role was in 2020's The Color Rose and he has five movies currently in post-production.
