With Commander Adama incapacitated, Colonel Tigh leads Galactica and the fleet down a disastrous path. The relationship between the military and the civilian population reaches an all-time low and the destruction of the Fleet is a real possibility.

This prompts Lee Adama to join with others to set free the imprisoned Laura Roslin, and to smuggle her off of the Galactica. He works with Roslin to help her re-establish her influence in the Fleet, but stops short of recording a message actually denouncing his father.

With his help, Roslin eventually leads a third of the fleet to leave Galactica’s protection in order to pursue this dream.
