Batwoman: Everything You Need To Know
1. Why The TV Show Is Just The Beginning
Today, Batwoman has arguably never been in a better position. Though the disappointment of DC's Editorial interference in Blackman and Williams' work still lingers, the character's path to mainstream popularity has never looked more assured, with an appearance in the (admittedly mediocre) Batman: Bad Blood, a cameo in Batman: Arkham Knight and more all intimating an awareness from Warner Bros. that the character possesses boundless potential no matter the medium.
What appeal she currently has will also undoubtedly be boosted by the new TV show, which also presents a major coup for The CW, whose DC shows continue to go from strength to strength in 2019. The only question now, it would seem, is whether or not the character is right for that particular network, and whether or not their presence could've been better served on the big screen in the DCEU, as opposed to the relatively smaller-scale Arrowverse.
Time will only tell how it all works out, but for fans of Kate Kane, the show's pilot will have already proven to be exciting. The casting of Rose in the role is certainly inspired, and with the character having starred in the most interesting Batman stories of the last decade, the addition of Batwoman to the live-action Bat-Family will no doubt encourage DC to try different things, explore new locales, and spotlight different characters when it comes to utilising the Bat-license onscreen.
So move over, Gotham, Pennyworth, and Matt Reeves' Batman reboot. Batwoman's in town, and the franchise will never be the same.
