Better Call Saul: 10 Things You Need To Know

9. And The Start Is Reportedly Stronger

Great as Better Call Saul's predecessor was, its first season was a little weak. It's another of those classic cases where huge fans trying to turn their friends onto Breaking Bad had to sort of convince them to power through the first run of episodes on the promise that it gets a lot better. It wasn't necessarily bad, just not as good as it wound up being. That's pretty much par for the course for any show finding its feet. All the early reports about Better Call Saul's premiere suggest that it hits the ground running, though, because the characters, universe and tone have all pretty much already been defined by Breaking Bad. Which is great news for everyone involved, really. It uses a lot of Breaking Bad's old tricks, too, with the first episode opening with a flash forward (in black and white, no less) to Saul in dire straits, possibly after the finale of Breaking Bad. Or is it teasing some big arc that will take form across this whole first season...? Either way, all of the advance reviews of the show suggest that it's starting off strong, and it can only get better from there, right?
