Cutting corners might be something small on this list, but from the amount of times Jimmy bends the rules to suit his favour, almost all of Jimmy’s disasters can be rooted in his decision to take the easy route.

Everything adds up after all, and as a result, Jimmy is a lawyer who constantly breaks the law and knows how to take advantage of gaps in the legal system. Inevitably, that serves to make him a slimy lawyer and shows his character to be morally ambiguous.

It demonstrates how loose his morals are and how in his mind, the ends justify the means if it means getting what he wants. He's even willing to go as far to scam his own clients to get the most favourable result. It’s a quality of Jimmy that Chuck often brings up time and time again - the idea that Jimmy likes to take shortcuts and not do things in the proper way. It endlessly frustrates him.

Cutting corners does also show Jimmy to be incredibly creative, quick on his feet and think far, far outside the box than anyone can imagine. But the amount of effort it takes to pull off his schemes illustrates how smart Jimmy is and if he could only apply his intelligence in not breaking the rules, he probably could have turned out to be as successful, if not more so, in fact, than Chuck.
