Better Call Saul: Everything We Know So Far

11. The Premise

Saul Goodman was always going to be the most interesting character for a spin-off, since he has his feet in two worlds, and though he ends Breaking Bad on the run and looking forward to a new life in Nebraska, thankfully we haven't seen the last of Goodman's wayward take on law. The show will follow Goodman before he became embroiled in Walter White's situation, and was a hard-working, tax-paying lawyer, grifting a living from career criminals. Crucially, it's not going to be Breaking Bad, as Bob Odenkirk has confirmed: "I told Peter and Vince, right away I said, 'Look man, let us make this fresh for everyone.' So that right away, in the first five minutes, every viewer goes 'Oh, this isn't 'Breaking Bad,' this is its own thing.'" Odenkirk added. "And I think they feel the same exact way. There might be a cameo here or there, but I don't know. We're going to do a new show." We'll see exactly how Goodman built his reputation, and presumably how he gained so many links to the criminal world, as well as focusing on how he arrived at his unique branding, with a heady blend of drama and comedy that made Goodman's appearances on Breaking Bad so good.
