There doesn't appear to be all that much to the opening credits of Better Call Saul, with the title appearing and a quick shot of Saul along with the now familiar theme tune. The thing that does stand out about them, though, is the way they flash from colour to black-and-white.

As Gilligan confirmed to the Radio Times, this is a conscious move, as a way of indicating the connection between the present of the show, which is Breaking Bad's past, and the future, which is also Breaking Bad's future:

"In our minds it’s somewhat metaphoric. Like not to get too deep into it but I’ll just say there is on some level, in our minds a connection to the black and white of the present era."
