One of the surprises about Better Call Saul is that it serves as a prequel for more than one Breaking Bad character. While we knew early one Jonathan Banks would appear, his Mike Ehrmantraut has become an increasingly important - and almost equally fascinating - part of the story.

His scenes often bring a little more action than those concerning Jimmy, but here things slow right down again after he finds the note, sure that there's been a device left somewhere on his car.

What follows is an absolutely glorious montage as Mike takes the entire vehicle apart, and so much of Mike's plot is wordless - just another example of how this show is so confident, and manages to execute its storytelling in an array of ways, each as entertaining and captivating as the last.

This includes Mike sitting in silence, eating pistachios and staring out of the window. That scene goes on for ages, and really shouldn't work. On any other show it probably wouldn't, but here, with Banks' facial expressions and the direction of Vince Gilligan, lingering on the empty shells to show the passage of time, it's an utter delight.
