Billy Bob Thornton’s 9 Most Badass Fargo Moments

1. Scaring Gus Grimly

If Malvo€™s merciless malevolence boils down to one magnificent moment, then it came in the very first episode of Fargo. After killing the Chief of Police in Bemidji, Malvo was passing through Duluth when cop Gus Grimly pulled him over for speeding. Gus: Licence and registration please. Malvo: We could do it that way. You ask me for my papers. I tell you that it€™s not my car, that I borrowed it. See where things go from there. We could do that. Or you could go get in your car and drive away. At this point, Gus thinks he is still in charge, nodding and laughing as Malvo stares soberly up at him. Gus: Now why would I do that? Malvo: Because some roads you shouldn€™t go down. Because maps used to say €˜there be dragons here€™. Now they don€™t. But that don€™t mean the dragons aren€™t there. If that wasn€™t enough to make Malvo one of the most badass characters to ever walk the screen, he then shows some of his omniscient capabilities to the young cop. Gus: Step out of the car please sir. Malvo: How old€™s your kid? They've never met before. Malvo should not know that Gus has a daughter. Gus continues to demand Malvo steps out of the car but you can hear he is less sure now. Malvo delivers the knockout blow. Malvo: Let me tell you what€™s going to happen Mr Grimly. I€™m going to roll my window up. Then I€™m going to drive away and you€™re going to go home to your daughter and every few years you€™re going to look at her face and know that you€™re alive because you chose not to go down a certain road on a certain night. That you chose to walk into the light instead of into the darkness. Do you understand me? With that he rolls up his window and leaves Gus gobsmacked. We salute you badass Billy Bob. Malvo will be missed.
