BoJack Horseman: 10 Best Supporting Characters

4. Herb Kazzaz

Herb Kazazz is the prime causation for nearly every conceptual event that occurs in the series when you think about it as the indirect enabler to BoJack’s unforeseen antics. This is solely due to Kazazz befriending him when he was neither foal nor full-fledged horse in the 1980s. Herb, being the centre of BoJack’s most coveted relationship, is in a sense, the most important character in the series.

In their heydays Herb and BoJack were the best of friends, with Herb being an aspiring writer who had just gotten his dream series green-lit and BoJack being an up and coming comedic talent. We don’t have to spell out that the two naturally came together and co-created the series, to much appraisal.

Life is rosy, until a fork in the road presents itself, as a new toxic executive threatens to fire Herb because of his sexual orientation, this is when his “best friend” - the one person he needed at that moment in time - willingly throws him under the proverbial bus. BoJack completely turns his back on him in his time of need in a very detestable and indefensible manner without so much as a second thought.

The stress of it all leads to Herb contracting and eventually succumbing to cancer, without the former friends unable to make amends and leaving reconciliation to go astray.
