2. The Negotiator
The 1998 film, The Negotiator was quite a decent film that was mostly overlooked by the general cinema audience. Samuel L. Jackson plays a police negotiator who is framed for a murder he didn't commit. Rather than let the courts examine the evidence and leave his fate in the hands of the wheels of justice, he storms into his office and takes hostages. His plan is to use the hostages as a bargaining tool until the real truth behind the murder is revealed. And who did Dean Norris play in a film that is full of cops and detectives? A police officer clearing the scene? A detective desperately battling to keep the hostages alive? No, he broke a habit of a lifetime and instead of playing a law enforcement officer, he took the role of one of the hostages. But it was a government officer he was working in so he is still a figure of authority of sorts. http://youtu.be/LVC2uynUn8c
