In a world filled with drug dealers and all around psychopaths, car wash owner Bogdan Wolynetz may seem out of place. However, during his brief appearances Bogdan displayed such an amazing lack of empathy that one might consider him a sociopath on the level of Tuco or Gus. This was first evidenced in Season 1, where he harassed and demeaned Walter (who at that point was his dispirited employee). Later on, Bogdan's intense, prideful and disgusting behaviour resurfaces when Skyler and Walt conspire to buy his car wash and use it as a front business. In these later scenes Bogdan not only rebuffs Skyler's offer of $800,000, but reveals that he clearly has a vendetta against Walt, who quit working there in such a dramatic fashion that it insulted Bogdan. He tells Skyler that Walt is basically a coward, who had to "send his woman" instead of dealing with him directly. With this type of personality it is easy to see why Bogdan can be considered annoying, or why it was so satisfying to watch Walter force Bogdan to hand over his first dollar (that had been framed and hung on the wall). And really, just take a look at those eyebrows. Those alone are a good enough reason to hate this man.
Adam Mohrbacher has been afflicted with an obession for film since his earliest memories. In addition to his work with WhatCulture, Adam has been a contributor with Filmophilia.com, FilmMonthly.com and Examiner.com. You can also check out his personal blog here: adammohrbacher@wordpress.com.
A devoted fan of all film genres and styles, Adam gets equally giddy over the sensitive, existential musings of Ingmar Bergman, and the brawny brilliance of Arnold Schwartzenegger. He loves fish tacos and misses the work of Heath Ledger and Jack Lemmon on a daily basis.
