Breaking Bad: 25 Greatest Moments

18. The Pizza Toss

PizzaAs Seen In: Season 3 Episode 2: "Caballo Sin Nombre" The pizza toss has become one of the most beloved moments in the entire series. Skyler has moved back into the White house (forcing Walt to move into an apartment), and in an act of desperation Walt arrives at the front door with a pizza, hoping to reconcile their differences. Skyler, of course, refuses, angering Walt. On his way back to the car, he angrily tosses the pizza into the air, which lands on the roof of the house. The moment is absolutely hilarious, and believe it or not, was done in a single take. The production team blocked off several hours for the scene, expecting that it would take several dozen tries to get right. Bryan Cranston himself has talked about the scene in several interviews, and has expressed his worry at the time about how exactly he was supposed to do it. Then, on the very first try, he perfectly flung the pizza on the roof and didn't even realize it until walking back to his car. If you pay close attention, you can see Walt do a slight double-take. The pizza remained on the roof for several episodes, acting as a bit of a symbol for Walt and Skyler's troubled marriage.
