1. Why Did Walt Leave Gray Matter?
One of the biggest unanswered questions in Breaking Bad however is why Walt decided to leave Gray Matter and the Schwartz's and become a high school chemistry teacher. Walt resented Elliott and Gretchen for "robbing his children of their legacy" by cheating him out of his share in the business, and this alone fuelled much of the show's final scenes. There were several hints as to why Walt left Gray Matter throughout the series' run. In one episode, where Walt confronts the Schwartz's at a restaurant, Gretchen says that he left her without any explanation, but the reason why never came out. Creator Vince Gilligan did well when it came to tracking Walts metamorphosis from teacher to drug kingpin, but its still unclear as to why he turned his back on fame and success and instead became a humble high school chemistry teacher.
