Breaking Bad: How Walter White Broke Bad In 10 Steps

4. Heisenberg Begins

The episode €˜A crazy handful of nothing€™ is where Walt finally begins to regain control. Since he began producing meth in the first episodes Walt had largely become a reactive character, not making decisions to move forwards but making them to deal with the repercussions of his actions. It takes Jesse being beaten up and having his meth stolen by the drug dealer Tuco for Walt to create Heisenberg, his alter ego in the drug world. This step represents Walt€™s realisation that he needs to change to be taken seriously in this industry and although his character is some way off truly becoming €˜Heisenberg€™, this moment is the birth of this second character and a hint to where Walt will eventually end up.
