Brexit: The Uncivil War Review - 4 Ups & 4 Downs
1. It's Massively Irresponsible
Even as you're watching Brexit, you have to wonder whether they should have made it. It's almost like watching a film about a high-profile court case that's actually happening at the same time. It feels uncomfortable and disquietening to be able to look out of the window and see the consequences of what the fictionalised thing on the TV is portraying.
But even beyond that, it feels like the film-makers should have waited, rather than stigmatising the whole Brexit issue even further. The sad reality of this feature is that it will cause changes in opinion and not necessarily all for the positive (in the film-makers' eyes, at least). The vindication and validation of Vote Leave will attract new backers, the cartoonish grotesques on that group's fringes will no doubt push others to the "other side."
This was propaganda and you have to wonder whether it was really the right idea when there are literally cases being fought about the people involved and the very same actions being portrayed.
And now to the positives...
