Brian K. Vaughn To Adapt Stephen King's UNDER THE DOME For T.V.

Best know for his work on comic book series' Y: The Last Man, Runaways and Ex Machina, Vaughn will adapt King's massive tome novel about a town that is inexplicably cut off from the rest of the world by an invisible forcefield.

Originally announced in August of this year, the T.V. adaption of Stephen King's massive novel Under The Dome is moving along at a steady pace with the hiring of comic book writer Brian K. Vaughn to scribe the series. According to Deadline, Vaughn will pen the series, which will be produced by King and Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of DreamWorks Television, who acquired the rights to the novel shortly after its release in November 2009. The series is being pitched as a supernatural thriller, revolving around the inhabitants of a small town in Maine and what happens when the town is inexplicably cut off from the rest of the world by an invisible forcefield. Society within the town inevitably breaks down, leading a handful of citizens to oppose a corrupt politician attempting to seize power. Think The Simpsons Movie plot, somewhat. Vaughn is best know for his work on comic book series' Y: The Last Man, Runaways and Ex Machina. This is not his first work for television, having previously being one of the principal writers of Lost during it's third, fourth, and fifth season's. His work for the show includes Season Three's 'Catch-22', and Season Four's 'Meet Kevin Johnson'. No word yet on when the show will premiere, but it will air on American channel Showtime.
