News recently broke that Brooklyn Nine-Nine's eighth season will officially be its last, and as can be expected, this has led to a lot of heartbreak from fans.

While eight seasons is certainly nothing to scoff at, it's still disappointing purely because this was a journey that many people never wanted to end. However, instead of dwelling on the sadness, let's discuss the positive side of this, as there are plenty of benefits to this disappointing news.

Firstly, the show can go out on its own terms, which in the TV landscape - especially of late - is not a luxury everyone is lucky enough to receive. Secondly, Brooklyn Nine-Nine can end on a high before overstaying its welcome. Finally, you have to believe that the creators will pull out all the stops to make season eight incredible. But, of course, there are several things that the fans are desperate to see before the Nine-Nine closes its doors forever.

The following entries will discuss some of the fan-service moments that the writers need to include, and some narratives that need a final pay-off before audiences say goodbye. Brooklyn's ending is bound to be a tear-jerker, and delivering on these points will help make that happen.

10. Olivia Crawford Returns To The Nine-Nine

While Olivia Crawford - played by the wonderfully charming Allison Tolman - wasn't a fan-favourite character, she should still make a comeback. Her return to the show could plant some seeds for Raymond's future - which we will get to later - and to pay off some narratives that deserve to be closed out.

Holt's race to become Commissioner of the NYPD was one of the most significant storylines in the series, and Olivia Crawford was a great hurdle on that journey. Her youthful and progressive attitude even outweighed Holt's, and watching their battle was tense, yet hilarious.

She is a character that should return to the Nine-Nine, and there are many ways to make it happen. For example, Crawford could work alongside them, come by to converse with Raymond or enlist in the detectives' help. Ultimately there is still a story to be told with her, especially after the way her and Raymond's story ended.

Seeing a female captain rise within the ranks is also something that would be very on-brand for the show's progressive messages. Thus, a physical example of this in Captain Crawford's return - with some new sets of power - would be a brilliant sprinkle on the ice cream sundae of season eight.
