Ending last September, Brooklyn Nine Nine was the last of the great workplace modern day television sitcoms. Michael Schur and Dan Goor’s police procedural action comedy very much followed in the footsteps of the single-camera workplace comedies that came before it in The Office and Parks and Recreation and in many ways perfected the craft.
Adding the cop show genre to the comedy mix made for compelling viewing and it was hard not to be entertained by all 153 episodes of the show across 8 hilarious seasons. Of course, we all mourned back on May 10th 2018 when Fox cancelled the series after five seasons after a decline in ratings but the very next day NBC picked it up for a sixth season and the show would run for a further two after that.
With many award show plaudits and a religion of loyal fans, Brooklyn Nine-Nine will forever find new audiences with re-runs on syndication and on streaming services.
