Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Great Moments In Mediocre Episodes

7. Buffy Gets Revenge On Parker (Season 4, Episode 5)

Due to Angel’s departure at the end of Season 3, Buffy arrives at college as a young singleton. In Episode 2, she encounters a handsome student named Parker Abrams, and they hook up in the next episode.

But Buffy soon realises that Parker has no interest in a long-term relationship. It’s an awkward state of affairs: Buffy feels she’s been misled, while Parker argues that he did nothing wrong. Then, in Episode 5, Buffy’s boozy night out has supernatural consequences, turning her into a human primate with basic communication skills. There are some funny moments here, but ‘Beer Bad’ is a pretty poor effort overall.

However, at least it ends on a high. When Parker asks Buffy for forgiveness, she responds by whacking him across the head with a club, knocking him out in the process. Whilst this isn’t enough to salvage the episode, it’s still a great moment that’s both amusing and satisfying.
