Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Worst Characters Who Appeared After Season One
5. Ben Wilkinson
During Season 5, Buffy and the gang battle against Glory, a powerful and mischievous goddess from a hell dimension.
Though Glory can think and act independently, she also has to battle against Ben, a human vessel who acts as a prison against Glory. This slightly awkward plot point is one of the weakest aspects of Season 5 – it feels like a twist for the sake of a twist.
Before we learn about Ben's true identity, he's introduced as a medical intern at Sunnydale Memorial. He's a friendly, down-to-earth character who helps out the gang on several occasions.
When his connection with Glory is revealed, therefore, the audience only feels one emotion: confusion. How come no one ever noticed these random transformations? Later, we learn that anyone who witnesses the transformation forgets what they saw, but this just feels like a knee-jerk attempt to explain away a plot point that we didn't really need in the first place.
Season 5 may well be a great season, but it would have been much better if Ben wasn't in it.
