Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 12 Best Cult Heroes
6. Anya Jenkins
Buffy had a fantastic knack of taking character types - so far we've met the mother one, the laid-back one, the shy one - and then fleshing them out as full characters.
When ex-demon Anya joined the Scoobies in season four (after a couple of guest appearances the previous season), she was the blunt one, taking over from Cordelia as the person who gave caustic comments to everyone around her, but soon grew into her own person.
While at first ill at ease in the human world, Anya finds much to enjoy, including money (she's a huge proponent of capitalism) and the love of her life Xander - although she really hates rabbits.
Despite often being self-centred and uncomprehending of others' feelings, Anya's defining moment came in The Body when she gives a heartfelt speech about not understanding human death.
