Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 15 Iconic Moments That Defined the Series

15. Season One: Buffy and Angel Kiss for the First Time

This moment, in the seventh episode of season one was one of the most iconic and important scenes in Buffy's entire history because it was really the start of so many storylines running throughout the show. Until this moment (although we had are suspicions) neither the audience nor Buffy (especially Buffy) knew Angels dark secret. Buffy just thought she was another girl with a crush on a dark, brooding older man. When they finally kiss for the first time, you can see the passion and intensity they have for each other... but Angel, struggling to hold back his secret in the heat of the moment pulls away from Buffy, revealing to her and the audience for the first time his monstrous vampire face. This single moment was the beginning of Buffy and Angels powerful on and off again relationship running all the way to the last episode, and was also our first real introduction to the true Angel, whose dark side Angelus (described in this episode for the first time) would have a huge impact on Buffy's life, particularly in Season 2.
