Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Every Major Relationship Ranked Worst To Best

5. Xander & Anya

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Riley
Mutant Enemy

Xander and Anya started off on a rocky foot, since she was an ancient vengeance demon with a deep distrust of men and he was the most immature guy in school. But after Anya lost her powers and Xander had no one else to take to prom, they ended up hitting it off.

Despite some rough patches in season three and early season four, the pair ended up having perhaps the show's longest-lasting relationship, which saw a great deal of growth and maturity from both of them.

Anya got over her fears of relationships, Xander his anxiety over commitment, and together they brought out the best in each other and made a vital duo within the Scooby Gang. That is, until Xander left Anya at the altar, ruining their entire wedding and sending her back to her demonic ways.

They briefly reconciled in season seven, just before Anya was killed in the final battle against the First, and despite their obvious issues they still managed to be one of the series' best couples at their strongest.
