While the shows both depict teenage years filled with love and passion, they have unique approaches and character developments. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is centred on a young, but courageous girl Buffy Summers, who protects the town Sunnydale from vampires. The Vampire Diaries, instead, tells a story of a pacifist teenage girl Elena Gilbert, who ironically falls in love with two vampire brothers.
