When Seth Green quit Buffy The Vampire Slayer early on in the fourth season he claimed it was to further pursue a career in movies. Green had become something of a pop culture icon for his role as Dr. Evil’s son Scotty Evil in the three Austin Powers movies and had become a recognisable face in cinema for his supporting roles in the likes of Can't Hardly Wait, Enemy of the State and for his major role in the film Idle Hands.
Although many saw Green’s exit as a negative for Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the actor himself actually claimed it to be a big positive for the show. Green argued that his character of Oz was way more beneficial for the show when he only appeared in small doses.
In the end, Oz would be a character we would come to miss as Buffy The Vampire Slayer got more seasons than you could count on one hand and his dynamic as part of the Scooby Gang wasn't easily replaced.
