As we've seen, Angel is an exquisite series, and has aged fantastically well thanks to its moody drama, timeless characters, and brutal conflict. But even at its best, it can't quite hold a candle to the show that gave it life.
Like most spin-offs, it lives in the shadow of the show that preceded it.
With its staggering ensemble, relatable coming-of-age storylines, and memorable villains, Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes the cake. There are few supernatural TV shows as funny, confident, consistent, and emotionally hard-edged.
In the end, She Who Hangs Out In Cemeteries wears the crown, and who could possibly doubt her?
