There are many reasons why people love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but the characters are probably the best part of the show. Joss Whedon created so many great personalities for his offbeat fantasy story, and Willow Rosenberg is up there with the best of them.
From the outset, Willow’s brainpower shines through. With the possible exception of Giles, no other character has such a massive intellect, but she’s also a bit of a wallflower in the first season.
Indeed, her nerdy persona leads to ridicule from some of her popular classmates, yet Willow changes dramatically over time. Her magical abilities improve with every season, and by the end of the show, she’s a formidable witch. Willow’s journey certainly isn’t smooth, however. In season 6, she is consumed by her own magical powers. Following Tara’s death, she morphs into a menacing villain and becomes the Scooby Gang’s main adversary.
Willow’s beautifully-written story is expertly brought to life by Alyson Hannigan. Her performance captures all the nuances of her character across all seven seasons of the show.
