Everything and more on Agent Riley Finn: Buffy the Vampire Slayer's un-super soldier squeeze.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer blew up the high school at the conclusion of its third season and transitioned to UC Sunnydale college with season four. Amongst other changes, including on-campus living, soul sucking roommates and Willow's shifting sexuality, there was a new, homebred and decidedly down to earth love interest on Buffy Summers' horizons: Riley Finn. Or so it seemed.

Class TA by day, secret soldier by night, Riley and his friends were an arm of the US Government sent to Sunnydale expressly to identify, contain and rehabilitate the demon (or "hostile sub-terrestrial") threat.

With a straightforward approach to every situation, a traditional set of morals, and always suited and booted in sensible, mission-ready clothing (none of this velvet blazer or leather trench coat business), Riley was the easiest to grasp of Buffy's many boyfriends. Unfortunately, while this may be what Buffy needed, it was rarely if ever what she really wanted.

Isolated from Buffy's inner world and unable to satisfy a thirst for undead danger and super-strength shenanigans, Riley left Sunnydale before his downward spiral consumed him, and the rest... well, the rest is laid bare in the graphic novels - but we won't go there for now.

Buckle on those tactical boots and grab a taser - we're going deep.
