Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

1. It's Wonderfully Self-Aware

While the series could certainly be a little more conscious of its excess melodrama, it is for the most part written with a giddy sense of self-awareness.

There are countless references throughout the show to classic horror movies, including a memorable tree-attack sequence reminiscent of The Evil Dead, and an exorcism scene preceded by a shot homaging the horror classic's unforgettable poster.

The pop-culture references do feel a tad overdone on occasion, but for the most part the show pays loving respect to its clear influences, and does so in a way that'll fly over the heads of younger viewers while giving older audiences a quick chuckle.
