Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Netflix Bloat Strikes Again

As is a constant, frustrating problem with Netflix shows, there's just too much content here for the actual amount of intrigue the show-runners can wring out of the concept and characters.

The series clocks in at almost 10 hours in length, with several episodes running just north of an hour, when it honestly feels like a consistent 30-40 minute run-time would suit the show's breezy, pulpy tone better.

The pacing issues are especially apparent during the flabby mid-section, where several episodes are defined by disposable "mystery of the week" scenarios, and the back-end of the season ends up rushing through a substantial subplot involving Greendale's mine.

Clearly, there were 6-8 episodes of quality content here, but because Netflix wants to bloat out its catalogue of streaming minutes available to its customers, it ends up running dangerously close to the exhausting length of one of the platform's Marvel shows.
