Cobra Kai: 10 Insane Details You Definitely Missed
8. The Yoga Position
After Johnny opens the Cobra Kai dojo, he puts out flyers, hoping to encourage students to join. But after acquiring a single student, Johnny is unable to pay the rent. Left with no choice, Johnny sublets the property to a yoga class. Obviously, this scene is intended to convey how financially insecure Johnny is and how desperate he is to keep his dojo (as well as his dream) alive.
But the production team couldn't help inserting a little in-joke in the shot where the yoga students enter the building. As the group stretch on their mats, four women can be seen performing a reclining back-bending stance towards Johnny. It may look like a normal stretch but, like everything in Cobra Kai, it wasn't chosen at random. This pose is known as... the Cobra Pose! The name comes from the fact that a person in this stance resembles a cobra when it has its hood raised.
Since the Cobra Pose is one of the most rudimentary moves in yoga, most people who train in this discipline should have clocked this reference.
