In anticipation of season 4 of the hit comedy series Community, this is a great moment to look back and pick out the best episodes from the show so far. Community has spanned three memorable seasons, so that's plenty of episodes to scrounge through in hopes of finding the best of the best. Firstly though, if you have no idea what Community is (talk about being streets behind), here's the lowdown. Community is a comedy series that first aired in America in September of 2009. It revolves around a study group of seven students attending community college and their various antics. The series is best known for its meta-humor and parodies. It references a lot of cultural aspects from literature, film, television and even video games. The seven core characters: Jeff Winger, Britta Perry, Abed Nadir, Shirley Bennett, Annie Edison, Troy Barnes and Pierce Hawthorne are a great bunch to watch (especially Annie!) and they tend to be joined by a few guest actors and actresses on various occasions. So, in preparation of season 4, which starts airing on the 7th of February 2013, here's a list of the 10 greatest Community Episodes.
10. Digital Estate Planning (S3, E20)
One of the last episodes to air from the show, Digital Estate Planning was Community essentially paying homage to old school gaming. The episode centered around Pierce's father's will, which stated that Pierce and his friends must play a video game he created and whoever reaches the final castle first will win Pierce's inheritance. In this episode, a new face appears in Gilbert Lawson, a long-time assistant to Pierce's father - and who is also later revealed to be Pierce's step-brother. The best parts of this episode come from the video game portrayal itself and how all the characters react in the game world. The graphics and sound effects bring back old gaming memories that a lot of us here have, and having the main characters interact with various in-game characters brought many laughs too. A great episode.
