4. Paradigms Of Human Memory

NBC

That's where the pens went!

When Troy spots his monkey, Annie's Boobs, going into the air ducts, it leads the study group to a collection of lost items and a journey down memory road.

Much like Cooperative Calligraphy, Paradigms of Human Memory is a drama heavy episode. Unlike it, however, it does not feel light and playful. Seeing these characters that we have come to know and love go right for each other's throats is painful to watch. There are few things more upsetting than seeing people who love each other hurt each other.

This isn't to say that the episode doesn't have its moments of levity. Some of the jokes here are straight up so funny that it's almost enough to make you forget about the character drama, such as Abed's obsession with the short-lived NBC series The Cape and his iconic line "six seasons and a movie".

Paradigms Of Human Memory is one of those sitcom episodes that will have you laughing just as much as cringing.
