Community: 15 Greatest Episodes So Far

4. Digital Exploration Of Interior Design & Pillows And Blankets (Season 3, Episodes 13 & 14)

community pillows The first two-parter on our list. We'll take each episode in order. Digital Exploration of Interior Design: The episode features two main storylines. The first has Subway opening up a shop in the school cafeteria, which angers some students because of a clause saying any restaurant in the school must be at least 51% owned by a student. Subway counteracts this by hiring a man to legally change his name to Subway and enroll at the school (through a process called "corpora-humanization"). Unfortunately, his new position prohibits him from falling in love, which he does nearly immediately with Britta Perry. This storyline is a solid parody of George Orwell's landmark novel 1984. The second storyline has Troy and Abed attempting to build a pillow fort. When Troy learns there's a potential entry into the Guiness Book of World Records involved, he tries to persuade Abed to add blankets to increase the size of their fort. Abed refuses, citing quality over quantity. Troy then leaves the pillow fort and begins construction on his World Record Blanket Fort. Soon, the two forts are side-by-side, and Troy's fort is not yet big enough for the world record, and he demands Abed demolish his own fort. It creates a confrontation (seen above) and the episode ends with part of both forts collapsing. Pillows And Blankets: The second part of the episode is in the style of a PBS documentary about the war between "Blanketsburg" and "Fluffytown", and their struggle for dominance of Greendale. Best line: "Wow, did you know all Greendale students are technically in the Army Reserve? Let's say a little prayer for peace."

3. Digital Estate Planning (Season 3, Episode 20)

community 8 bit Season three, as we may have mentioned before, is famous for the sheer levels of insanity it contained. It featured the former Spanish teacher Senor Chang becoming a security guard who over-threw the school and enforced martial law, and having a riot squad of ten year old boys. It had a campus wide pillow fight, and finally featured an evil version of Abed from a parallel universe come to ours and try to make it as evil as his. Not yet satisfied that the third season would be insane enough, showrunner Dan Harmon decided to turn nearly an entire episode over to 8-bit animation. The story goes that for Pierce Hawthorne (another of the study group) to receive his inheritance, he would first have to beat a 30-year old game his dad designed. His friends get to help him out in winning the game, and they're playing against a man who works at his father's company. Best line: "I guess there's no hug button."
