There are many subtle spoken and visual references to how terrible Greendale Community College actually is, and one of the most low-key telling ones occurs in the series' very first episode.

Mere minutes into the pilot, we see Pierce squeezing "ketchup" onto a hot dog, except the ketchup bottle actually contains mayonnaise.

It's nothing if not a simple statement that Greendale can't even get something as basic as freaking ketchup right, likely a result of Dean Pelton's penny-pinching.

But that's not the insane part. The gag was actually recalled almost a decade later in Avengers: Endgame's opening scene, when Hawkeye's (Jeremy Renner) daughter jokingly asks, "Who puts mayo on a hot dog?"

This might seem like a coincidence were it not for the fact that both the Community pilot and Endgame were directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
