Community: 15 Insane Details You Definitely Missed
2. The Beetlejuice Cameo
Perhaps the only running joke that can truly give the pregnant girl subplot a run for its money is a gag which was set up over the course of the show's first three seasons.
Mid-way through season one ("Communication Studies"), Professor Slater (Lauren Stamile) pretends to forget Britta's real name and refers to her as, "Bitter, butter, Beetlejuice."
In season two's "Cooperative Calligraphy," the name was invoked once again, when the study group strips down to prove they haven't stolen Annie's pen and Britta mentions that Jeff's underwear usually consists of "stripey turqoise Beetlejuice numbers."
And finally, in season three's "Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps," Annie mentions that Britta's Halloween playlist is bare, containing little but the Beetlejuice soundtrack.
No more than a second later, an actor dressed as Beetlejuice walks past the window behind Annie, staying true to the myth that speaking his name three times will make him appear.
The gag draws zero attention to itself and was missed by, well, pretty much everyone on a first viewing. Incredible.
