How could I possibly put Hickey so low on his birthday?

Poor Jonathan Banks had the impossible task of filling the "old guy" hole on Community left when Chevy Chase, who played Pierce, exited due to some on set issues.

Banks does a fine job as bitter Criminology Professor and amateur duck cartoonist Buzz Hickey, but he feels like Pierce lite. It's not his fault, but Hickey comes across as a lesser version of Pierce. They might as well have named him Nat Pierce.

Plus, the fact that he leaves the show off screen and unaddressed between Seasons 5 and 6 is slightly frustrating, showing that he was never really intended to be a mainstay, just a placeholder. Though he has his moments such as waterboarding the goblins in Advanced Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Hickey couldn't live up to Pierce's standards.
