Community Season 3: Play "Journey to the Center of Hawkthorne"

Where else can you stomp on hippies while playing as Inspector Spacetime?

Community is the most ambitious show on television. One week there will be an episode that's a reference to My Dinner with Andre, the next will be entirely in stop-motion dealing with a character's seemingly psychotic breakdown. Last season featured an episode called Digital Estate Planning, in which Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase) played a video game programmed by his late father in order to win his inheritance. Shortly after the episode aired, Reddit user Derferman began work on turning Journey to the Center of Hawkthorne into a real game.

The project took off, making headlines across the web. But at the time the game was only two levels and took about a minute to play through. After reading Dan Harmon's AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit and seeing someone mention the progress of the game, I went to see how it was doing. To my surprise, after three months since its inception the game is still being updated and worked on. I tried out the most recent version of the game and was very impressed with how much has been added.

All of the study group is playable, each with various costume changes and abilities. Various songs from the show, including Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" and Matt & Kim's "Good Ol' Fashioned Nightmare", have been made into 8-bit. The game itself is surprisingly substantial and it took me a few minutes to go through all of the levels and look at the small details.

If you're a fan of Community, you need to play this game. Where else can you stomp on hippies while playing as Inspector Spacetime?
