1. Donald Glover
When Joel McHale was asked about the possibility of a Community movie recently, he questioned whether one would be possible, given the difficulty in booking ‘the biggest movie star on the planet’, Donald Glover. While he probably isn’t quite the undisputed numero uno on planet Earth, you can certainly see what McHale meant.
Glover has gone from strength to strength to strength since leaving the show, becoming one of the entertainment industry’s biggest polymaths. Glover has gained acclaim for music and film since leaving the show, while still writing and starring in one of TV’s most innovative shows, Atlanta.
The dark comedy has been praised for its insightful writing, and highlights Glover’s comedy chops in a different way from his role as Troy Barnes.
As Childish Gambino, his early rap albums took the world by storm, before Awaken My Love hit more soulful rhythms. Following the controversial yet thought provoking This Is America, Gambino was the joint biggest winner at the most recent Grammys, tied on four wins with Kacey Musgraves.
Most recently, he voiced Simba in The Lion King, and like many Community alum, has the trademark MCU appearance tohis name: Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
