16. The Russo Brothers
It’s not particularly worth picking apart the careers of every Community director since the show wrapped, but the Russo Brothers are definitely the exception to that rule. Joe & Anthony Russo have gone on to become two of the most successful directors in Hollywood, and they owe a lot of their success to Greendale.
The pair are most famous for directing Avengers: Endgame, the highest grossing movie of all time. That’s actually the fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe they’ve directed though, after Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, with plenty of ex Community stars making guest appearances too.
Better yet, Community played a major part in getting them the MCU gig in the first place. The Russo Brothers helmed the famous paintball episodes of Community, and the hectic action, huge set pieces and character driven storytelling caught Marvel’s eye.
Squint a little at The Winter Soldier and you can see the paintball influence in there.
They also worked on cult sitcom Happy Endings during and post Community and they look set for a long and prosperous career over the next decade.
