However, is this really the end of Oliver Queen's role in the Crisis? At this point one has to think back to a cryptic tweet Queen's actor, Stephen Amell, sent out some time ago. It seemingly alluded towards the Spectre's involvement:

This combined with his surprisingly early death, immediately leads to speculation that Oliver may about to become DC’s equivalent of the Angel of Death - even more-so because having the Spectre appear in this crossover makes all the sense in the world.

The embodiment of death had played a pivotal role in the original Crisis on Infinite Earths comic. It was he who led the final assault against the Anti-Monitor and it was his immense power that ultimately swung the battle in favor of the good guys. Given how this crossover has been set up, it seems more likely than ever that, in order to save the day one last time, Oliver will indeed become something else.
