CW Casts Stephen Amell as Green Arrow

After some searching, the CW has finally decided who will play the title role in their new Green Arrow series: Stephen Amell.

Stephen Amell This pilot season has brought us many new and sometimes (vaguely) interesting shows. But something that has got us a bit excited over here at Whatculture is Green Arrow on CW. We just can't help it, we get all speculative whenever a comic book show hits the market. After some searching, the CW has finally decided who will play the title role: Hung's Stephen Amell. It was confirmed today that Amell would play the billionaire vigilante Oliver Queen, though many fans had hoped the role would go to Justin Hartley, who played Green Arrow in Smallville. And did a pretty awesome job. It's a little hard to throw our faith behind a guy who's acting credits includes The Vampire Diaries and Private Practice, but he does do a decent job in Hung. He's just not very battle-scarred is what I'm saying. I'm sure he can nail the playboy billionare part, but badass archer vigilante, I don't know. Of course, with CW we can expect and will certainly receive quite a bit of drama, over-sentimentality and dripping romance, but the network managed to walk an okay line with their last superhero venture. I'm sure the Internet will be ranting and raving for the next few months in eager and frustrated anticipation, but here's a little news to hold you over for a bit. So, can that guy be this guy: Green Arrow
